Escalante State Park -
Petrified Wood Trail
|
| |
|

|
In Escalante State Park,
petrified wood is laying about all over the place along the
Petrified Wood Trail. Here are three large chunks.
They have taken on the colours of the rainbow, as
minerals gradually seeped in and replaced the wood fibers over
thousands of years.

Throughout this region,
Utah Juniper trees resemble bristlecone pines in form.
However, they are not nearly as long lived. This
tree might be 300 years old. |
